The video has been directed by Colin Tilley (born June 27, 1988) is an American music video director, commercial director, and filmmaker who has created award-winning work with some of the most influential artists and brands worldwide.
He has written and directed music videos for artists including, but not limited to, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Enrique Iglesias, Zendaya, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Tyga, Lil Wayne, Jason Derulo[1] Diddy, Usher, Rita Ora, Keri Hilson, Cheryl Cole, Wiz Khalifa, and The Band Perry.
Tilley directed, produced, and executive produced his first short film, Mr. Happy, starring Chance the Rapper, in 2014 and is currently developing several other film projects in Los Angeles, California. He has also directed commercials for Reebok, SMS Headphones, and Nicki Minaj’s perfume “Pink Friday.”
Tilley has won several awards including Video of the Year at the 2011 BET Awards for Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” video, Best Male Video at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards for Justin Bieber’s “U Smile,” Best Direction at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards for Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright,” and Best Hip Hop Video at the 2015 Video Music Awards for Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda.” Most recently, Tilley won Video of the Year & Best Cinematography at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland for (Kendrick Lamar “Alright“), as well as Video of the Year, Best Urban Video, and Best Cinematography at the 2015 UKMVAs for (Kendrick Lamar “Alright“).
Amongst his wins, he was also nominated at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Hip Hop Video (Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now”) and Best Collaboration Video (Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now”), Director Of The Year at the 2014 BET Awards, and Video of the Year for Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” at the 2015 BET Awards.
